Origin of the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus

Referring to the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus, our missal states: “Its origin is traced to the XVIth century, when it was celebrated by the Franciscan Order. In 1721 Pope Innocent XII made the keeping of this solemnity Universal.”
