Message to the Priests and Laymen Supporting The “New” SSPX or Bishop Williamson

Apr 30, 2017

The following is taken from the April 2017 issue of the Catholic Candle.  It also a warning to laymen who assist at the Masses of priests who publicly support Bishop Williamson even though they themselves do not support Bishop Williamson.

To the priests and laymen who are supporting the “new” SSPX or Bishop Williamson:

You do not rest easy because of their liberalism and their scandals leading souls astray, but you have been afraid to stand for the truth—up till now. There is hope for you, if their liberalism makes you suspect there is “something wrong”. Let these words of your patron, Pope St. Pius X, sink into your bones:

In our time, more than ever before, the chief strength of the wicked lies in the cowardice and weakness of good menAll the strength of Satan’s reign is due to the easygoing weakness of Catholics. Oh! if I might ask the Divine Redeemer, as the prophet Zachary did in spirit: What are those wounds in the midst of Thy hands? The answer would not be doubtful: With these was I wounded in the house of them that loved Me. I was wounded by My friends, who did nothing to defend Me, and who, on every occasion, made themselves the accomplices of My adversaries. And this reproach can be levelled at the weak and timid Catholics of all countries.1

Do you fear you would be alone if you stand up for the truth? You would not be alone, just as Archbishop Lefebvre—and we—are not alone! We have with us twenty centuries of councils, popes, the Doctors and Fathers of the Church, who all teach against the liberalism of the “new” SSPX and Bishop Williamson! We have with us all the saints of God! Remember Archbishop Lefebvre’s words in his consecration sermon on June 30, 1988:

It seems to me, my dear brethren, that I am hearing the voices of all these Popes—since Gregory XVI, Pius IX, Leo XIII, St. Pius X, Benedict XV, Pius XI, Pius XII—telling us: “Please, we beseech you, what are you going to do with our teachings, with our predications, with the Catholic Faith? Are you going to abandon it? Are you going to let it disappear from this earth? Please, please, continue to keep this treasure which we have given you. Do not abandon the faithful, do not abandon the Church! Continue the Church! Indeed, since the Council, what we condemned in the past the present Roman authorities have embraced and are professing. How is it possible? We have condemned them: Liberalism, Communism., Socialism, Modernism, Sillonism. All the errors which we have condemned are now professed, adopted and supported by the authorities of the Church. Is it possible? Unless you do something to continue this Tradition of the Church which we have given to you, all of it shall disappear. Souls shall be lost.”

Likewise, in 1978, Archbishop Lefebvre said the same thing more briefly:

How can I feel alone when I am in communion with 262 popes and the whole of the Catholic faith?2

Dear priests and laymen, if Bishop Fellay and Bishop Williamson would renounce their liberalism and scandals, we, who are defending the truth, would gladly welcome them as comrades-in-arms and we would have gained a father and a brother!

How much more would we welcome you, who have not taught such evils but only lacked the courage to oppose them! Stand up for the Faith now! And come join us in the Resistance!
