Exhortation of St. Francis of Assisi

O dearly beloved brethren, and most favoured children, hear me!  Hear the voice of your father!  We promise great things; greater still are promised to us.  Let us observe the former; let us strive after the latter.  Pleasure is short; punishment is eternal.  There is little suffering; there is infinite glory.  Many are called; but few are chosen.  Nevertheless, all will receive according to their works.  Amen.  “Children, let us do good whilst we have time”. (Gal. vi.)
